Sharyn Lowth

Involved with Skills and Investment Attraction to the region, Business Excellence Awards, Mining Supply Chain and Carbon Network education, Sharyn enjoys the business community involvement her role at CTEDL offers.

Since joining the organisation in 2008, she has managed various projects and functions, including the Capricorn Tourism & Economic Development and Ergon Energy Business Excellence Awards, and a series of successful Eco-efficiency, Resource and Major Project Forums. The Skills Attraction Program has seen her promote the region at expos in Brisbane; manage a contingent from both Rockhampton and Mackay to "New Zealand Herald: Your Careers Expo" in Auckland; and most recently the "Opportunities Australia Expo" in Johannesburg.

Sharyn has varied experience with group logistics and coordination and the adult education industry. She has qualifications in travel and tourism, specialising initially in business and medical corporate travel in Townsville.

Management opportunity with inbound tourism arose at Central Queensland University with TraveLearn, an early Ecotourism venture, and AustraLearn hosting Australian semester or year-long academic and holiday experiences. Sharyn represented the University on the Council for the Australian College for Seniors’ based at the University of Wollongong.

Involvement with contract and volunteer work with the Capricorn Coast Tourist Organisation allowed her to participate and contribute at a more local level to the industry.

Participation in community is very important to Sharyn with parenting of teenage girls having actively involved her with event and committee management of various community organisations. An active lover of tennis, Sharyn is also a water-skier and paddles with Capricorn Coast Outrigger Canoe Club in her spare time.
